I bought a DSLR camera! It’s a Pentax one, I didn’t wanna invest too much for a DSLR cause lotsa people keep telling me “A good photographer can take a good picture with any camera” and another reason would be, I can’t really handle gadgets very well. I suck and I really could kill any electrical gadgets within a week.

I can’t really understand this goddamn camera until today. I’m gonna master this eventually, in like 30 years to come. I hate using the viewfinder…
So let’s see what’s so good about a DSLR!

Cotton was my model! Aww! It’s actually very nice and detailed!
My Yves Saint Laurent bag arrived too!

I love it I love it I love I love it! *Thanks Constance for helping me get this* ・:*:・(*´ー`)

MODA means Malaysian Official Designer’s Associaton
The founder is Gillian Hung and alot of other Malaysian designers are in this.
The show was held in One Utama on 30th May. Alexandrea Yeo joined the competition and is competing against 11 other contestants. It’s a battle where Designers, Models, Make-up artists and hair stylists team up and tries to win the overall look award, best young model award and best young designer award which then the designer would be representing Malaysia to complete in an International fashion competition in Singapore.
Anyway I’ll let the pictures to the story-telling. Sorry in advance for the inconsistent pictures though, as you can see, I suck at taking picture too. Yay me.
This was the runway. 500 over chairs.

The really entertaining MC. I forgot his name, but he’s really bitchy and kept going like “This is fierce, fierce fierce, Now you’re in, and then you’re out” Haha! Awesome! Possibly the only entertainment for the night.

The show started with performances by a cheerleading group called Charms. It was kinda cool. But what has it got to do with fashion…

The show took off with the previous MODA champion. Which I also can’t quite recall the name. Sorry Malaysia, it’s just so hard to remember all the chinese names~! Damn.

And then Alexandrea took the stage with her outfit inspired by the Multiple Personality dysfunction concept.

Followed by other contestants. I didn’t take much pictures since I was moving around talking to my friends and such…

Alexandrea yeo with her team. (They were paired up by drawing lots and she got the cutest stylist and make-up artist she was hoping for haha.)

And then, 38 other local designers parade their designs. They were not so up-to-date if you ask me, and my friend said some of the outfits were re-used from last year’s collection. Apart from that, there were quite alot of McQueen and Gaultier inspired outfits.
Some notable Malaysian designers includes Melinda Looi, Jonathan Cheng, Winnie Liew, William Liew, Key Ng etc etc.

So Gaultier

Tengku Azura walking the runway. Possibly the only Malaysian model who can actually WALK.

Amber Chia was in the show too

The only entertainment we had (other than the free food and booze) a drag and a butch dancing on stage! But somebody please save that poor pot from that dress.

And then the winners were announced, and the grand winner is Joyce.

That concludes the event.
Now here’s where i wanna voice out some opinions.
One, the judges, were really blind and god knows where their fashion sense lies (I’m not saying mine is better than theirs) But it’s pretty obvious to those with normal vision and eye power that Alexandrea and Daniel Ngoo’s outfits were the only ones who had both great designs and workmanship. They don’t look cheap either. The other 10… They look like outfits you could find in bargain bins and wholesale outlets! They did not even sew those outfits on their own and their designs all look the same.
But instead, the top 3 were contestants with outfits that did not match and look way off. Okay the winner’s outfit was pretty okay, the jacket was nice though the rest of the ensemble doesn’t go well together at all! but the other 2… i was at lost for words. I’m not being bias here just because I know Alex or anything but the crowd’s reaction when the winners were announced wasn’t really like “WOWW!” In fact I could hear people saying “Wert?” “Huh?” and “What the fuck?”
Looks like I’m not the only one.
I don’t know, maybe the judges taste are just… eccentric.
But I believe they just are pretty bad at judging. Jimmy Choo or Zang Toi could’ve judged instead.
What a disappointment.
Well, now I have more reason not to stay in Malaysia to pursue fashion! NYC or Italy, here I come!
*Wish me luck*
There was an after-party then at Velvet, and it was really bloody packed all the way to the entrance at the main road! It’s bloody Wednesday people! Go to sleep!

That’s all for now! Dead tired

cheers for tengku azura. Too bad they didn’t put the head ornament that they used for Kl fashion festival. It’s was so…. magnificent!
i guess, they dun use the same accessories all the time ><
Some of the designs were nice. I really like Alexandrea ’s design cause it looks so modern and stylish. The white gown is really nice too. Wonder how did the winner’s one look. From the way you stated it, it didn’t sound too appealing >.<.
I really need to get in tough with you when I get back T_T. I can’t believe I am missing out on some many fashion shows in KL T_T.
Oh hey, I happened to be there that day and stopped to watch briefly. I was thinking the same thing when the cheerleaders came stomping out. I though it was kinda out of topic too.
With your new camera, I am now even more convinced that your dog’s mouth badly needs washing. XD *gets kicked*
